Interview: Advancing with the WBE Stars: Rashmi Chaturvedi

Meet Rashmi Chaturvedi, president of Kaygen, an award-winning global business services and technology solutions provider assisting organizations with achieving their digital transformation objectives.

Each year, WBENC presents 14 women business owners with the prestigious Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) Star Award, the nation’s premier recognition for excellence among certified women-owned businesses, honoring female owners for their leadership skills, business success, and ability to serve as an inspiration to others.

MEET RASHMI CHATURVEDI, PRESIDENT OF KAYGEN

With a background in designing and implementing large technology systems, Rashmi began her career with a major telecommunications company and later worked for Disney for over a decade, streamlining the company’s technology and infrastructure. But when her daughter was three years old, Rashmi faced a crossroads not uncommon to women in business. Her daughter was ill and hospitalized for over two weeks and Rashmi had to take extended medical leave to care for her. During this time, Rashmi did some soul searching and decided that while she wanted to return to work she also wanted to continue to be there for her child.

Rashmi realized that she could build her own business advising large customers as they embarked on their business transformation journey, just as she had done for Disney and other large organizations. Her company Kaygen was born in 2003 using an advisory and implementation service business model created by Rashmi.

Under Rashmi’s business model, Kaygen would help clients realize the value of their technology investments and provide them key data insights so they could make the right decisions to meet consumer demand and drive product growth. This business model proved to be a winning one when Kaygen grew 40% in its first two years.

As technology has continued to evolve and change at faster and faster rates, Kaygen has had to continually evolve to stay relevant, innovative, and competitive in the marketplace. Rashmi and her team have invested in research and development and have partnered with research organizations to bring innovative solutions to their customers.

Becoming part of the WBENC network is another tool Rashmi has used to gain a competitive edge. Since becoming WBENC certified, Kaygen has doubled in size and the education Rashmi gained from WBENC programs enabled the company to scale up with the right methodologies, including partnering with other WBEs.

Rashmi is “The Visionary” because her forward-thinking mentality has allowed her company to stay ahead of the curve and has helped her Fortune 500 clients make the right decisions to maximize productivity, efficiency, and profitability. Today, Rashmi shares her advice for new entrepreneurs, her business philosophy, and her guiding words for newly certified women-owned businesses
